(Posted: 10th May, 2006) |
| Answer: Yes you can, but i wouldn't recommend it. Carbs are useful to protect protein being converted to energy and used for fuel. Low GI carbs will add in building lean muscle. Most people make the mistake of reducing carbs too much when they start a weight loss diet. |

| Question 11: I'm thinking of stripping the fat and going on a very low carb diet. The only sources of carbs will be from vegetables and fruit. I would however, like to get more muscle WHILE losing the fat, so I have decided to boost my protein intake and lower the carbs. Will this Horley's Ice be the best option? What other powders would you recommend? I would also like to take the protein not only after workouts, but also during the day too? |
(Posted: 2nd Nov, 2006) |
Answer: Hoerleys Ice is an excellent protein. Make sure you take in some carbs post training to replace glycogen store or else you could get very weak.
Also consider syn-tec nitro plex or Syntrax Matrix for a sustained release protein for through the day. However if you protein meals are regular, Ice should work very well. |

| Question 12: I go to the gym 5 times a week alternating between cardio and weight training. I am 5ft 10 and approx 70kg and I am wanting to loss body fat while gaining lean mass. What combination of products would you suggest for the best results? |
(Posted: 22nd Jan, 2007) |
Answer: Sorry for the late reply, our FAQ's weren't updating to the site.
I would switch from the Ice to the Ripped Factors and then add in Scorch, Lipo 6, Hydroxycut hardcore or dymetadrine xtreme. Keep your diet high in clean proteins and low in carbs in the evening and eat at least 5 meals a day. |

(Posted: 3rd Feb, 2007) |

| Question 14: Hi, I have been using vp2 for a while now with good strength gains. I have read good reports about Horleys ICE, are the two comparable? |
(Posted: 11th March, 2007) |
| Answer: Yes the 2 are comparable and people change from one to the other. It is difficult to say which is best overall, as both have their followers. We highly recommend both VP2 & the Horleys Ice, so perhaps give the Ice a try if you are looking for a change. |

| Question 27: My sister trains 4-5 times per week, generally cardio and x-training sessions. Would you recommend horleys ice as a suitable protein supplement to assist her with her training. She is 167cm tall and weighs approx 56kg and has no desire to get any bigger. I was considering this product purely to aid in recovery and provide necessary protein for her continued training? |
(Posted: 14th Nov, 2007) |
| Answer: Yes. If she keeps her carb level to a moderate level and only uses the protein after a workout it should not increase muscle mass. Muscle mass is gained with weight training excercises, high colarie diets and hormone levels (on average it is six times harder for women to gain muscle than men). |

| Question 28: I’ve been using ICE Whey for about 2 years now, having a protein shake morning and night (always immediately after a workout), and have added some lean muscle mass. However I am wondering whether I should be using a WPC or WPI/WPC Blend with added Carbs immediately after a workout for faster absorption, and save the WPI for a pre-bed snack, for slower absorption. Any thoughts on this? Any suggestions for suitable products? |
(Posted: 19th Nov, 2007) |
| Answer: Your methodology is excellent but WPI is the fastest of all protein and the only way to get faster absorption is through Free from amino acids (FFAA's). I would add in some carbs (at least the same amount as protein) post workout to increase muscle growth. Perhaps go for a sustained release protein like Matrix, Musashi 92 or International Synergy 5 for throughout the day and pre bed protein. These protein digest over a 5-6 hour period. |

| Question 29: In my post workout shakes, I often add frozen berries and a small amount of oatmeal – are these suitable for carbs, or should I be adding another product to amp it up a bit? |
(Posted: 20th Nov, 2007) |
| Answer: These are great quality carbs but some may argue a bit too low GI. Perhaps add in Banana's with Rice milk to bump up the speed of glycogen replenishment and stop the protein from being oxidised. |

| Question 30: I am 171cm and weigh 60kg (5% BF) so I'm quite lean. I have been workingout for about a year now but for the past few months I havent had much gains as I previously did. I have been using Musashi Bulk pre+post workout and was thinking to start using a WPI protein such as ICE for post workout and continue to use Musashi Bulk as part of my breakfast/pre-workout supplement. Also, I normallyhave a highcarb meal after working out. Would you recommend ICE or should I stick to Musashi Bulk for my postworkout? |
(Posted: 23rd Nov, 2007) |
Answer: There is a lot of merit behind using a carb/protein blend post training. With a pure Protein (Ice) you may oxidise much of the protein for energy and loose much of the anabolic effect you should get.
Ice with a carb source would be the best bet, but then you would have to buy carbs separately. |

| Question 31: I’m a 43 yr old male, 173 cm tall and weigh 64 kg. I like running (have run three half-marathons) but would also like to bulk up a little bit. I have tried both Horleys and BSC WPI products and find them agreeable as I’m lactose intolerant. I’m also taking 3 caps of Protobolan a day. Is a WPI product the best supplement for me and if so which brand/product would you rate as the best value for money? |
(Posted: 7th Dec, 2007) |
Answer: Yes, this product is fine but i would add some more carbs to the protein for increasing mass. Banana's and rice milk are fine or you can buy Carbo-plex or Extreme carbs if you think that would be better. I would take at least as many carbs as protein around training times.
Take your protobolan before weights and before bed on training days and in the morning and before bed on non training days. |

Question 32: I'm 34 yr old male, 170 cm tall, weigh 84 kg.
I go to the gym 4 days p/week. I started taking ICE WHEY almost a month now and I can see ICE WHEY helps me to recover quickly from post training and gain lean muscle. Also, I take only carbs during the period of workout day to give me energy, but I try to keep cabs at minimum when not working out in the gym.
I take ICE WHEY 5 times p/day:
During breakfast
Lunch time
Dinner
Snack
Before bed time
Am I taking ICE WHEY excessively? Also, why ICE WHEY is not recommended with product with amino acid? What's the consequence if you do take ICE WHEY with Creatine product that has some amino acid? ICE WHEY and Creatine, is that a good combination to gain lean muscle quickly? |
(Posted: 8th Jan, 2008) |
Answer: It is a little excessive. Pre and post workout is a must, breakfast is also a great time. You meals should contain enough protein to make the ICE redundant at these times. However the proof is in the pudding, if you find your recovery suffers you may find you need to take ICE as much as you do; I do find this unlikely though.
ICE contains hydrolysed protein which is like amino acids, however there is no reason why you cant take more. Also creatine woks perfectly with ICE, I am not sure why you think it cant be taken at the same time...go for it! |

| Question 35: I'm 23yr old male, 184cm & 82kgs. I play league and have just started gym regularly. My goal is to reach 88kgs but am a hard gainer. I've been taking Awesome mass for the last month and was wondering if I should use it as a pre-workout drink and Ice as a post workout to help gain the weight I need? |
(Posted: 29th Jan, 2008) |
Answer: No, Use Awesome Mass pre and post training. Also increase calorie dence foods through out the day. Eat peanut butter & banana sandwiches, egg noddles and other high calorie foods.
Its all about the protein hitting the muscle cell...hard gainers need calories!
Consider using Syn-Tec MCT oil and Musashi Creatine Recovery Stack or Syn-Tec Creabolan to pack on more muscle. |

| Question 36: Why dont whey powders have carbs in them? Ive got vital strenght WPI because i heard whey powder absorbs the quickest. Is it really important to have carbs to gain muscle? |
(Posted: 13th Feb, 2008) |

(Posted: 13th Feb, 2008) |
| Answer: Most WPC average around 6-7g of carbs per 100g but if you wont to be under that than a WPI like Horleys ICE is the only way to go. Also Horleys Carb Less are the best diet bars on the market with 18-20g of protein and 4g of carbs per bar. |

Question 40: Hey mate,
I have been using 3 different mass proteins now (GNC Mass XXX, Int. Protein Extreme Mass and now Horleys Awesome Mass) and I have gained 5-6kgs + mass size. However, I am wanting to lose the fat in my belly while gaining muscle. What protein should I be taking? I have been looking at ICE or RIPPED but I don't know what to get or what is good for my situation. I am 17yo, 66kgs, 175cms and I do weight training 4 days a week.
Cheers? |
(Posted: 28th Feb, 2008) |
| Answer: If you are putting on Fat it shows too many calories in the diet. The best thing to do is use high calorie high carb powders around training times and low or no carb powders through the rest of the day. You can buy a protein powder with no carbs in it and buy extreme carbs or Carbo-Plex to take before and after training with their protein powder. |

| Question 41: Hi im 19 yrs old nd weight is 60 kgs. as per my hight which is 175 cm im too skinny. i have just started gym. im planning to go 4 days a week. i want to look perect like not too skinny n not too giant. wat do u reckon ?? protein or weight gainer? which one is best in mega mass, no explode or horley ?? |
(Posted: 20th March, 2008) |
Answer: Hi
Its sound that you need to put on some muscle mass and weight, due to your fast metabolism I would recommend a weight gainer.
We stock lots of different weight gainer protein powders
and its hard to say which type of protein powder would suit you due to the different features eg. content of carbohydrate, protein flavour etc.
(the proof is in the pudding).
Some of the most popular protein powders is Horleys Awesome Mass, Syn-Tec Maximus, International Extreme Mass.
Its very important that you get carbohydrate before and after.
When taking before the body will use the carbohydrate for energy so you can perform longer better and protect the muscle tissue due to the body uses this source of energy instead of the amino's, and directly (in 20min) after so the body can use the protein for muscle development/recovery and not for energy.
Good luck!!! |

| Question 42: I have been goin to gym three to four days a week...I want to gain muscle, look fit, look good and i dun wan to gain any weight or fat...Can i use Awesome Whey?? |
(Posted: 7th April, 2008) |
Answer: Hi
Yes you can use awesome whey, no problem, its also important to be on a good diet as your foundation. due 80% is diet/ recovery and 20 % is training.
if you get a good diet going, you will improve better and with help of the supplementation even better.
As you now protein is is important for our muscle building and recovery, if you are worried about putting on fat i would recommend choosing a protein with low or non-carbohydrate ei. Horleys ice.
just remember that its important to get carbohydrate before and also after for replenishing muscle and liver glycogen stores immediately after exercise is the key to making positive gain and improving exercise performance.
Good luck!! |
